We are looking for a highly motivated and independent skilled academic to perform lipid and biomarker analysis and manage the lipid laboratory at the Globe Institute.
Our research/about us
You will be working in exciting projects seeking to understand the paleoclimate and its relationship with humans in the past. This new laboratory is fully equipped with cutting edge technology for the analysis of lipids and biomarkers in sediment and archaeological samples.
Your job
As a Research Consultant will serve in two main functions:
1. Manager for the Lipid Laboratory
- Provide expertise and training for new users of the Lipid Laboratory
- Ensure adherence to safety and laboratory protocols
- Oversee laboratory maintenance, including orders and bookings
- Sampling and subsampling of materials for lipid analysis
- Establish protocols for extraction and analysis of lipids
- Conduct sample analysis using GC-MS
- Perform data analysis using MassHunter software
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Consultant with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
- It can be an advantage if you have a PhD in Earth Sciences, Analytical Chemistry, Archaeosciences or related.
- You have documented experience in lipid analysis and GC-MS.
- You have an active interest in Paleoenvironmental and Biomarker analysis and lipid analysis applied to Archaeology.
- You have proven an ability to envision, plan and execute a research project.
- Good English skills, written and spoken.
- Experience and knowledge in biomarker data analysis and MassHunter software analysis.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary research teams.
- Service-minded.

Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 11,1 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 6 months. The starting date is October 1st, 2023.
Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). The monthly salary will be based on the number of years of work experience (seniority) with the possibility to negotiate a salary supplement based on prior experiences and qualifications. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
